Applications Ongoing for Philippine Science High School National Competitive Examination 2025

Applications are now ongoing for the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) System’s National Competitive Examination (NCE) 2025, the official entrance exam for incoming Grade 7 students who aspire to join the country’s premier science high school network. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), which oversees the PSHS system, opened the application period last June.


The NCE serves as the gateway to Pisay, known for its rigorous focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to study in one of the PSHS campuses across the country, where they will receive specialized training designed to develop the next generation of Filipino scientists, engineers, researchers, and innovators.


Key Dates


  • Application Period: June 16 to November 7, 2025
  • Examination Date: January 31, 2026 (Saturday)


Eligibility Requirements


To qualify, applicants must be:


  • Currently enrolled as Grade 6 students in DepEd-accredited schools
  • Holding a final grade of 85% or higher in Science and Mathematics or ranking within the top 10% of their class
  • Filipino citizens without pending or approved immigrant visa applications
  • Fifteen years old or younger by June 30, 2026
  • Of good moral character and in good health
  • First-time applicants to the PSHS system


Application Process


Students may apply online through the official NCE portal at nce.pshs.edu.ph by creating an account and submitting the following documents:


  • 1x1 ID photo
  • Certified true copy of Grade 5 report card
  • Certificate of ranking (if applicable)
  • Scholarship certificate (if applicable)


The application fee is Php 300 for private school students, while public school students and full scholars may apply free of charge. Walk-in applications are also accepted at any PSHS campus or DOST Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO).
